William Blythe –
committed to safe chemicals management

When you work with William Blythe you are working with a company committed to safe chemicals management throughout its entire supply chain.

William Blythe is in full compliance with the European Union REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical Substances) Directive

We are fully compliant with the European Union’s REACH Directive (EC) 1907/2006, which is designed to regulate the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemical substances. REACH legislation has been in effect since 1st June 2007 and its major aim is to provide a high level of protection of human health and the environment from the use of chemicals. William Blythe’s Product Stewardship team plays a key role in the process, working with suppliers and customers in the Company’s supply chain to achieve compliance.

William Blythe has worked hard to ensure that REACH has become an integral part of our day-to-day business, through pre-registration and the three transitional phase-in registration deadlines and beyond. After registration, we will continue to meet our ongoing obligations under REACH, which include communicating the safe use of our chemicals along the supply chain.

The REACH registration status of materials supplied by William Blythe is indicated on the Technical Data Sheet for each substance. Should you need more information about REACH, please contact us at reachmaterials@williamblythe.com.

For regions in the world outside the European Union, William Blythe will cooperate with customers in ensuring compliance with relevant local regulations.

Your partner for safe materials handling

In addition, William Blythe is committed to achieving full compliance with the Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures Regulation (CLP Regulation), which implements the United Nations “Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals” (GHS). To do this, we work in close cooperation with our suppliers and customers. This means that labels and new safety data sheets (SDSs) are designed with all the new compliant information.

The design of CLP labels is done in house at William Blythe, providing us with the flexibility to meet customers’ specific requirements. As long as labels remain legally compliant, William Blythe’s standard labelling can be modified as required. Please get in touch should you have any questions regarding custom labelling.

The aim of GHS is to ensure that the criteria for classifying chemicals according to their health, environmental and physical hazards, and the communication of hazards on both labels and safety data sheets are the same around the world.

William Blythe is mindful of its global regulatory obligations and our regulatory team makes it a priority to keep up-to-date with relevant legislation around the world. As a result, we take all necessary steps to ensure we comply with relevant local implementations of the GHS.
